Re: sleep

i apologize for sounding ignorant with my post. Valium, Xanax or any other drug with "pam" in it's last syllable of its chemical name, is what is refered to as a tranquilizer. except for short-term use, ie two weeks or less, these drugs are counterindicated for use as a sleep-aid. the user...

Re: Cerebral Palsy Treatment in EU countries

there have been some remarkable results from countries formerly aligned with the soviet union. from a certain point of view they are decades ahead of "western" medicine, particularly the USA, which seems mostly dedicated to avoiding lawsuits and finding ways to bill insurance companies or ...

Re: Need some advice about my Nephew

@cmcpolo wow. where did you get the idea from my posts in this thread or on this forum that i am providing a diagnosis? PERIOD! and what's this with the condesention? where did i state that accepting the fact that for now there is no cure for cerebral palsey is somehow equal to giving up on therapy?...

Re: Could spastic cerebral palsy lead to erectile dysfunctio

well, i tried to answer your question but it took so long that the site timed me out and deleted my post before i could submit it. the short answer to your question is "no". that having been said, the rest of the answer is "well, maybe yes". the most important sex organ...

Re: 22 Month Old on Baclofen

well, your 22 month old is now about 6. are you happy with the outcome? seriously did the doctor even look up the drug in the Physicians Desk Referance before just writing out a presciption? american doctors have the annoying habit of handing out pills to get their patients and their parents to go a...

Re: what happened to United Cerebral Palsey

i'm going to bump this post. does united cerebral palsey even exist as a real entity anymore? a search of the internet seems to indicate that the answer is "no" so why have it up on any website dedicated to CP?

Re: Need some advice about my Nephew

there is simply no way for me to gauge the advisability or effectiveness of splints or any other theraputic regimen on a child i have never seen. my post should in no way be misconstrued to mean that i reject making theraputic efforts on a child just because he has a malady for which there is curran...

Re: Uni project Bicycles for those that have movement diffic

let me take a stab at this, though it's probably too late. i do not have CP, but have been a teacher of some who do, as well as others with mobility issues. biggest barriers: 1. getting out of the house and onto the bike. sounds oversimplistic but there you have it. 2. the availability of power whee...

Re: misdiagnosed w/heart condition at birth

seriously, just EXACTLY what are you hopeing to achieve by contacting a lawyer? period! at best, you are only going to put your lawyer's kid through college so she can curse the world by becoming one too! is making your lawyer rich going to get rid of your CP? will it make it go away? in the best po...

Re: Swimming - Please Help

as an educator in the US, i can tell you that getting a school district to buy one of these would be a difficult ordeal, you'ld have better luck with private schools. most school districts do not have a swimming pool. lots of public pools in the USA do not allow patrons to bring their own "stuf...

what happened to United Cerebral Palsey

i moved to Seattle WA in the year 1989. at that time, UCP had a building on north 45th street that was 4 floors tall and covered half a city block! now, as far as i know, UCP doesn't even have a presence in Seattle. what's up with that? does anyone have info on what is the cause behind this decline?

Re: grunting and straining

please don't take this as a diagnosis, as it is impossible to do so over the internet with the information provided. but, you did say that any suggestions would be appriciated. 1. gas and or bloating, likely caused by lack of proper body movements that aid in digestive tract function. 2. difficulty ...

Re: Need some advice about my Nephew

:D okay, let me get this striaght, the child in question belongs to your brother? yes, the symptoms are consistant with cp, but not exclusive to it alone. no there is absolutely no possibility that the symptoms you describe would have been missed by a real doctor involved in prescribing the splints....
